…we wanted to convey to residents and visitors in our region a variety of feelings gathered on a journey taken through time and distance on the narrow gauge train.

And strive to bring them the stories, poems, paintings, photographs and oral accounts left by a legion of writers, local and international travellers, and last but not least, the railway workmen themselves. All have experienced this living legend's attraction.

And, naturally, we have added our own view, now quite captivated after delving into La Trochita's realms in writing and photographing this book....
